Monk goes all bubbly with [yellow tail]

TV celebrity Sophie Monk and prosecco would seem to be a match made in heaven.

Both have reputations for being bright, bubbly and just a little frivolous.

No surprise, then, that [yellow tail] has teamed up with Monk to launch a new prosecco range, featuring a Prosecco Classic and Prosecco Rosé.

Following the success of the [yellow tail] Easy to Love x Sophie Monk campaign in 2023, this marks the third year of the vinous partnership and showcases a wine style that Mon "genuinely loves".

Both wines are made using grapes sourced from the Alpine valleys in high country Victoria and aim to cash in on the fastest-growing wine category in Australia.

“We’re thrilled to team up with Sophie Monk to launch a Prosecco that’s as vibrant and fun as she is,” said brand manager Madeleine Legoe.

"We wanted to create a prosecco that reflects the energy of Australia: and Sophie was the perfect person to help us tell that story.”

The singer, actress and model is fully on board.

“I’ve always loved a glass of prosecco: it’s fun, fresh, and perfect for any occasion," she says. "For me, wine has always been about sharing laughs with friends or celebrating special moments with family.

"It doesn’t need to be stuffy or complicated- just really enjoyable. That’s why this collaboration with [yellow tail] felt like such a natural fit.”

Yellow Tail Prosecco and Yellow Tail Prosecco Rosé have been made to identical technical specifications, with an 11.5% abv and 15g/L of residual sugar.

Both are non vintage and are available nationwide now at an RRP of $19 per bottle.

I am clearly not the demographic, but have asked to see the wines. I will report back.

The old and the new: [yellow tail] tweaks after 20 years

The Casella family - the people behind best-selling Australian wine brand [yellow tail] - are not keen on rapid change.

Alterations to [yellow tail] branding and labelling have been minimal since the range was launched back in 2001.

But [yellow tail] has unveiled global plans to refresh its image.

It marks "the most significant packaging revitalisation since the brand’s launch in 2001, ensuring [yellow tail] remains an easy and relevant choice for consumers worldwide".

When [yellow tail] landed its packaging broke away from the traditional, often serious wine branding of the time, making wine more fun. The ‘Roo’ logo stood out and identified the brand as proudly Australian.

“Our updated packaging is more than just a fresh look; it reflects our evolution while reaffirming our commitment to quality and approachability,” said Arina Serra, global senior brand manager for [yellow tail].

“We’ve retained the elements that our consumers love while refining the details to create an even stronger visual impact on the shelf.”

New communications campaigns will launch in key markets, including the UK, US and Australia.

The rollout for the new packaging, as shown in the old/new image (top) will start in UK and European markets right away, the US and Canada from June, Australia from July and Asia in the final quarter of the year.

What Sophie says: Anyone for a Yellow Tail cocktail for summer?

Fancy a pre-mixed cocktail on a summer evening?

Australian wine brand [yellow tail] has just released a line-up of ready-to-drink cocktails that are described as "deliciously light and fizzy" and weigh in at just 11.5% alcohol.

The new range features a Wild Peach Bellini and Blood Orange Mimosa, both ready to pour straight from the bottle and billed as being "perfect for summer soirees, festive celebrations and holiday brunching in style".

[yellow tail] Australian ambassador Sophie Monk has been wheeled  out do the honours, saying: "I’m a huge fan of sparkling wine and I love a no-fuss cocktail so new [yellow tail] sparkling cocktails are the perfect match for my taste buds and lifestyle.

“[yellow tail] sparkling Wild Peach Bellini is the drink I’d be sipping on at brunch with pancakes or my personal Sunday favourite, French toast.

For super-hot summer days, I can’t go past a [yellow tail] sparkling Blood Orange Mimosa, poolside with some watermelon or any fruit really and nuts to munch on."

For non-Australians, former singer and media personality Monk only recently took on her brand ambassador role, and they are certainly working her hard.

The new releases are very much on trend with sparkling wine, ready-to-drink and spirits categories in growth globally and in Australia, primarily driven by millennials and younger drinkers seeking flavour and convenience.

“The ready-to-drink segment is booming in Australia - it’s the fastest-growing category in the alcoholic beverage industry globally," says [yellow tail] global marketing manager Anna Czarnocka.

"Coupled with the rising cost of living, we are seeing more consumers increasingly focusing on products that offer accessibility, convenience and value."

The drinks are made by the sixth generation of the Casella family at the family-owned winery in Yenda.

The new [yellow tail] sparkling cocktails are available at Dan Murphy’s and BWS nationally at an RRP of $18.

I actually enjoyed both of them. Good thirst quenchers on a summer afternoon. The lifted blood orange flavours of the mimosa just edged it for me but I’d drink both well chilled over summer.
