Another Chinese airline enters the Australian market

Tianjin Airlines is the latest Chinese carrier to enter the Australian market.

Tianjin has opened a new route direct from Melbourne to Chongqing - its first transcontinental air route to Australia.

And early next year, Tianjin Airlines will launch a new route from Sydney to Tianjin via Zhengzhou, which will begin on January 29, 2018, operating twice a week.

Current flights from Melbourne depart Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with return trips Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

The flights are all operated by Airbus A330 aircraft, with 18 business class seats and 242 economy class seats. Both classes are equipped with entertainment system on the back of the seats. The airline says "delicious meals and considerable service" are provided. We shall see.

Tianjin Airlines, previously known as
Grand China Express Air, has signed SPA agreement with Virgin Australia Corporation, connecting more Australian cities to Tianjin, including Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide and Gold Coast.

After arriving in Chongqing and Tianjin, passengers can transfer to other Chinese cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Urumqi and Haikou.

One-stop ticketing is available on Tianjin Airlines' global website and via online travel agents.

Tianjin Airlines concentrates on the international market and opened several international air routes in 2016, including Tianjin-Chongqing-London, Tianjin-Moscow and Tianjin-Chongqing-Auckland.
