Radisson has a new focus with its latest Sydney hotel

 

Sydney is get another luxury lifestyle hotel, but this one will be in the Haymarket district, close to Central Station. 

Radisson Hotel Group this week announced the signing of Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket, a 328-room, new-build hotel set to open in 2029. 

The 31-storey hotel will be positioned in the heart of Haymarket granting easy access the Sydney Light Rail, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. 

 “The signing of Australia’s first Radisson RED marks an important milestone in our Australasia expansion plan," said Elie Younes, executive vice president and global chief development officer (whew!) for the Radisson Hotel Group. 

"Radisson RED is a distinctive brand that offers a relevant and impactful proposition to both guests and owners. We are excited to partner with Ceerose on this project and are grateful for their trust in our brands and people.”

Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket will feature those 328 rooms, a restaurant, a lobby café-bar, a pool bar, meeting rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness centre. 

The hotel will also include a dedicated early- and late-check-out lounge for guests.

New Sebel set to elevate Parramatta hotel offering

It is not so long ago that Parramatta was regarded as "somewhere out west" by city-centric Sydneysiders.

Now Parramatta is regarded as a business and cultural centre, more so with The Sebel Sydney Parramatta set to open in one of Sydney's fastest- growing locations.

The Sebel Sydney Parramatta is scheduled to begin operations in August. 

Developed by Nirskam Group and to be managed by Accor, the new-build hotel will bring an extended-stay offering with 51 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, promoted as being "designed for both short and longer stays".

Backed by significant public and private investment, Parramatta is emerging as one of Australia's most important growth centres, with a local economy valued at approximately $28.86 billion, making it the second-largest economy in New South Wales.

This momentum is being fuelled by landmark developments including Parramatta Square, the Powerhouse Parramatta museum project, the redevelopment of Riverside Theatres, and strengthening of transport connections across Greater Sydney.

With the opening of Western Sydney International Airport expected next year, Parramatta is increasingly positioned as a key gateway for business, culture, events and entertainment in the region.

Room as The Sebel will feature high-speed wifi, and in-room casting technology, while self-check-in kiosks will be available. Guest offerings will include in-room dining, a 24-hour fitness centre, communal spaces designed for both work and relaxation, and on-site parking.

There will be an all-day dining restaurant centred on Italian cuisine, as well as a rooftop bar and terrace.

New Hunter Valley hotel concept unveiled

Details have been revealed about a new luxury hotel in the Hunter Valley. 

HVL Hotels has announced the launch of Laval Hunter Valley, a "landmark new luxury resort and tourism destination" scheduled to open in the second half of next year. 

The property is set across a 165-acre Estate in Pokolbin that previously housed Lindeman’s Estate and Ben Ean Estate. 

Laval will mark the Hunter Valley’s first new-build luxury resort development of this scale in more than two decades. 

The resort is set to become a major new culinary destination for the region with a dining offering led by leading chef Justin North, including signature Mediterranean restaurant Vallery, an on-site kitchen garden, Cali-Mex poolside bar La Vida, and a social lobby bar.

A drink program curated by wine expert Jon Osbeiston spans a 10,000-bottle cellar and 1,000-strong list celebrating Hunter Valley heritage along with global producers - featuring rare private collections, Coravin by-the-glass access, and an emphasis on local shiraz and semillon.

The new-build luxury resort will feature 65-pavillion-style villas surrounded by 165-acres of commercial vineyards, a Veraia Spa, and one of the world’s largest collections of Gillie & Marc artworks.

The project is expected to generate approximately $49 million per annum in economic activity and create up to 479 jobs in construction and ongoing operations, delivering lasting impact for the region.

Marriott hotel brand to return to Sydney

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Deicorp to open a new Sydney hotel next year. 

Courtyard by Marriott Sydney Crows Nest is expected to open in late 2027. 

The new-build hotel will form a central part of Falcon & Alexander, Deicorp’s $640 million mixed-use development in the heart of Crows Nest, just north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 

It will be operated by independent hotel manager Trilogy Hotels for Marriott, the media release says. 

Courtyard by Marriott Sydney Crows Nest will occupy the first three levels of the development and is set to feature 100 guest rooms. 

Hotel facilities are expected to include a contemporary restaurant and bar, meeting space, and fitness facilities.

The signing marks Courtyard by Marriott’s return to Sydney, joining existing properties in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Darwin.

“Sydney remains one of our most important markets in Australia, and the return of the Courtyard by Marriott brand to the city is a significant milestone," says Tristan Cooper, Marriott International’s director of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

"We believe the hotel will generate strong demand and contribute to precinct activation through its contemporary guest offering, and we look forward to seeing the entire precinct come to life.”

Earlier this year, Deicorp announced a separate collaboration with Trilogy Hotels and Marriott to deliver Sydney’s first AC by Marriott, as part of the Hyde Metropolitan development on Liverpool Street. 

New international hotel for Perth Airport will offer a resort vibe

Perth Airport is to get its first hotel and Pullman Perth Airport has unveiled a cutting-edge design concept. 

"The new hotel will offer a world-class retreat for visitors to relax and soak up the resort-style environment just steps from our terminals," says Dan Sweet, Chief Property Officer, Skyfields by Perth Airport. 

“The new Pullman Perth Airport hotel will be a world-class facility located at the front door to our major terminals. 

"It will offer a vibrant and convenient place to stay and recharge between connections for international, interstate and local visitors. 

“Travellers can also use it as a base to explore Perth's iconic attractions - it is just 15 minutes to the CBD, Optus Stadium or wineries in the Swan Valley, and 30 minutes to Perth's spectacular beaches.”

With construction scheduled to start in 2026, the 240-room hotel will features an aerodynamic form with metal fins that echo aircraft panels. 

The curved shape will maximise views of the runways from upper-level rooms while the rooftop pool and bar will aim to reinforce the resort feel. 

Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer Adrian Williams said: “Pullman is defined by spaces that are purposeful, contemporary and designed to provoke exchange, and Pullman Perth Airport will be a compelling expression of that philosophy.

The approach to the architecture, interiors and landscapes by DKO Architecture will aim to strike a balance between the two worlds of aviation and a resort-style destinations.

“The brief from Skyfields was for the hotel to make guests feel instantly grounded, relaxed, and immersed in Western Australia's identity - all while delivering the sophistication of a global Pullman flagship,” said Dennis Chew, director of DKO Architecture.

“The strong sense of place is captured in the interiors, with colour palettes and materials that are deeply rooted in WA's diverse landscapes - the Pilbara's raw earth and ancient stories, the Kimberley's lush plantations and warm timbers, and Esperance's coastal calm.

“Outside, the hotel forecourt will be a green, welcoming plaza for people to gather in a serene garden environment. The space connects to the airport's existing Skybridge with a 30-metre canopy walkway leading from the terminal, providing an immediate and seamless transition to the resort environment."

New Sunshine Coast hotel a shot in the arm for local tourism

 

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland is set to welcome its first international new-build hotel for four decades.

Minor Hotels, a global hospitality group with hotels, resorts and branded residences across 59 countries, this week advised that Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel is on track to open in April 2026,

Developed, owned and operated by KPAT Hotels under a franchise agreement with Minor Hotels, the 12-storey, 180-key property is promising to "set a new benchmark for premium coastal hospitality in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions".

"Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel represents a key milestone for Minor Hotels Australasia,” said Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Australasia.

More hotel choices at Melbourne Airport

Travellers flying in or out of Melbourne Airport are about to get more choice with the imminent opening of two new hotels.

Novotel (above) and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport hotels will open on July 1 and will be the first new-build hotels in the precinct in almost 20 years.

Owned by Melbourne Airport and operated by Accor, the hotels will food and beverageoptions, F&B offerings, a co-working space, Higher State - Melbourne’s first airport health and wellbeing club - and conference and event facilities.

The dual-branded Novotel and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport will offer travellers all the faciiities of a city hotel within easy walking distance of the terminals.

The $230 million hotel development has been designed by high-profile FK Architects with interiors by Woods Bagot.

There will be a total of 464 guest rooms split across Novotel (248 rooms) and ibis Styles (216 rooms) located within The Hive precinct.

F&B options will include Small Holdings Cafe, for coffee and pastries, Boccata Restaurant and Wine Bar for more substantial Italian fare and Amber State Taphouse & Kitchen, a modern gastro pub.

Guests at both properties will be able to use Higher State, which features an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, massage and fitness centre - perfect after a tiring flight.
