Escape the winter chill with your own private rooftop igloo

Dark Mofo and the Winter Feast are over, but there is still a whole lot more winter to come in Hobart.

The Telgraph Hotel, whose meals were reviewed here a few weeks back, have the perfect solution for those who want to stay warm: igloos.

The Telegraph has turned its rooftop into an orchard oasis, with cosy igloos, themed menu items, drink specials and serious water views.

Suitable for two to eight guests, the igloos provide a warm escape from the cold and are described as being @suitable for any occasion, from date night to a catch-up with friends".

The igloos come complete with relaxed chairs, comfy cushions, blankets and heaters.

As a collab with Willie Smith’s Cider, the menu will showcase apple inspired drinks including mulled cider, mulled wine and The Tele’s own Hot Toddy.

The igloos are available to book for $15 per person, which includes a drink on arrival and bookings are highly recommended.

Think warming dishes like pan-fried saganaki with compressed apple salsa ($12), slow-smoked brisket croquettes with mustard aioli and pickles ($13) and salt and pepper squid with green apple aioli.

The Telegraph Hotel’s Winter Orchard Edition Igloos will be on the rooftop until September 1.

Have your gin and eat it too

Gin is a key ingredient of cool new summer snacks on offer at the Rooftop at QT Melbourne.

In collaboration with Four Pillars Gin, QT presents Sips & Sorbet: A Hot Gin Summer, which runs until Sunday, February 26.

Inspired by Four Pillars’ Fresh Yuzu, Bloody Shiraz, and Rare Dry Gin, the the Sips & Sorbet cart will be offering scoops of bloody peach, spiced negroni, yuzu ginger, and fresh vanilla.

For those who prefer to sip rather than scoff, bespoke gin cocktails such as the Summer Lovin’ featuring Rare Dry Gin, watermelon and bitter strawberry soda, and Sunset Spritz mixed with Bloody Shiraz Gin, Aperol and salted grapefruit, will be on offer.

Throw in skyline views of the city, and a rotation of DJs and this sounds like a fun spot.

Sips & Sorbet: A Hot Gin Summer will run for six weeks only, every weekend from noon-4pm.

No bookings required. You'll find details here: www.qthotels.com/melbourne/eat-drink/rooftop-at-qt/

Little Gold Coast rooftop cabins with a difference

Bored with regular hotel rooms? Enjoy staying somewhere with a point of difference?

QT Hotels has just launched a rooftop cabin experience on the Gold Coast.

qtQT is described as "an urban oasis within QT Gold Coast's most-loved designer playground".

Think six qtQT cabins in a unique open-air setting.

The cabins each feature a private balcony and guests can book one, or secure all six cabins exclusively, with each cabin suitable for solo stays, or up to two guests.

Guests can make their stay unique with individualised Curated Experiences.

These experiences are bespoke activities organised by qtQT's Curator of Sunshine (unfortunately a very wanky name).

Think a meal on The Terrace, an al fresco dining area, followed by star gazing by the firepit or bespoke local adventures.

“At EVT, part of our property strategy is to innovate to commercialise under-utilised spaces and we refer to this as 'maximising our assets'," says EVT CEO Jane Hastings.

"When designing the overall QT Gold Coast upgrade, we identified a previously unused lower-level rooftop.

"We had been exploring the world of tiny accommodation and standing there as the sun set, we knew this would be the perfect location to trial our interpretation of this experience, the QT way.

"The cabins are low-key coastal cool, designed for the modern traveller, exclusive group stays or an innovative event option.”

EVT operates hotel brands including QT, Rydges and Atura.
