Perth to welcome new hotel brands

Perth is a hive of hotel activity.

The Radisson Hotel Group this week announce the signing of Radisson Perth (above), an upscale hotel in the Sydney Charles Quarter (SCQ) precinct in West Perth.

The opening later this year will mark the debut of the Radisson brand in Western Australia.

Developed by APPL Group and operated by Mandala Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Perth will form a key part of SCQ, a mixed-use development designed as a "connected village" that brings together residential, commercial, and lifestyle elements.

The hotel will feature 120 rooms and studios, complemented by a rooftop bar and restaurant, meeting spaces, and a swimming pool.

"We're delighted to bring the Radisson brand to this exciting precinct," said Danilo Curcuruto, director of development, Australasia, Radisson Hotel Group.

"Radisson Perth is a strong addition to our growing presence in Australia and reflects our focus on partnering with high-quality developments in key urban locations."

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Ovolo Hotels, meanwhile, are set to launch The Bennett by Ovolo Perth a Wyndham Hotel. A very clumsy name.

The 111-key hotel is slated to open in 2028, with the signing announced at AHICE Global Hotel Industry Conferences.

Carlton gets an international hotel

The Italian-accented Melbourne suburb of Carlton has its first international hotel brand. Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton, owned by Pelligra Group, has just opened.

Located on Swanston Street on the fringe of Melbourne CBD and overlooking Lincoln Square, the hotel is part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts stable.

It has 107 rooms, a flexible lobby, Fico Carlton Restaurant and Bar, and over 270sqm of meetings space.

The hotel is being promoted as "a vibrant cosmopolitan hub" and is in the heart of Melbourne’s "Innovation District".

The lobby bar and restaurant celebrate Carlton’s historic Italian influence, while the rooftop venue has views of the Melbourne skyline.

Farewell Sage West Perth; hello Holiday Inn West Perth

Farewell to West Perth's Sage Hotel on trendy Hay Street and hello to Holiday Inn West Perth.

The property rebadges on November 1 as West Perth fast becomes a wining and dining hub on the edge of the Perth CBD.

Located within walking distance to Kings Park and the Botanical Gardens, Holiday Inn West Perth will be IHG's first Perth property outside of the city centre and joins its city hotels including InterContinental Perth City Centre, Crowne Plaza Perth and Holiday Inn Perth City Centre.

Part of the hotel's charm is the former 1902 Walsh family residence which sits at the front of the property. A destination restaurant is planned for that space.

All 101 guestrooms will receive a soft refurbishment to bring it in line with Holiday Inn's standards - and the lobby will also be transformed.

Holiday Inn West Perth will join 42 open or pipeline Holiday Inn brand family hotels in Australasia and the Pacific region.
