Gevity Rx. Strange name, but it tastes good; does you good

When something tastes good and does you good that is a double whammy.

It’s a win-win situation.

So let me introduce you to Gevity Rx. It’s a strange name, for sure. But it is also a worthwhile addition to your kitchen cupboard.

I'm told Gevity stands for longevity, and Rx is short for prescription.

The Australian health food brand has recently expanded into major supermarkets and health food stores.

Gevity Rx is a health and wellness company specialising in nutrient-dense bone broths, "formulated to support gut health and overall wellbeing".

Founded by Brisbane-based Mark and Atlanta Fowler, the company was born out of a search for natural solutions to Atlanta's severe health issues, ultimately identifying a market need for broths rich in collagen-forming amino acids.

That means absolutely nothing to a kitchen layman like myself but apparently Gevity Rx harnesses an all-natural formula that "maximises nutrient concentration to promote healing, vitality and better gut health".

My wife says that is a very good thing.

The Gevity Rx range includes Bone Broth Body Glue (RRP: $35), Bone Broth Sauce (RRP: $17) and Bone Broth Marinade (RRP: $18).

My wife is drinking it, and used the sauce to make a gravy for last night's lamb roast. It was hearty/tasty.

There are a lot of dishes that can be lifted by adding some Bone Broth. We'll be trying a couple more this week, and will report back.

Gevity Rx can be found at major retailers including Woolworths and Coles, online and via local health food shops.

Adelaide festival has a focus on wellness

Wellness is a serious buzzword right now and Adelaide is at the forefront with its upcoming WellFest.

There are over 70 events on the calendar for the WellFest Adelaide 2023 program, including the WellFest Adelaide Amazing Race, which will take participants on a wellbeing race across Adelaide that is inspired by the reality TV series.

“Adelaide is such a vibrant and accessible city surrounded by our spacious parklands - the city is ready-made to support wellbeing whether you work, rest or play here,” says Greg Ratsch, acting managing director of the Adelaide Economic Development Agency.

The festival will cover six core pillars: mindfulness, sleep, self-care, nutrition, fitness, and connection.

From yoga to running, the festival runs from Friday, October 6, to Sunday, October 8.

To view the full event program visit www.wellfest.com.au.

All ticket sales for the Amazing Race will go to WellFest Adelaide’s chosen charity, the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.

Wellbeing is the resort buzzword du jour

A lot of people go on holiday to chill out by a swimming pool and drink a bucket-load of cocktails.

Others want to go climbing, walking or kayaking - action holidays are all the rage.

I'm not sure how many folk go on vacation to get fit, or to detox, but wellbeing has clearly been identified by resort marketers as a valuable market segment.

Every week my inbox is inundated with more emails about "wellbeing", "wellness" and "health" than you'd find Covidiots on the streets of Melbourne.

And so, this morning, an email advising that Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas looks forward to welcoming back international travellers as the Indian Ocean island prepares for the full reopening of its borders on October 1 with one of the highest full vaccination rates in Africa.

They tell me: " An active wellbeing vacation awaits guests with the opportunity to commune with nature during a series of immersive and indigenous experiences to rejuvenate mind, body and soul."

Fortunately I can also "delight in sumptuous dining and enjoy menus bursting with nutritious delicacies".

There is, of course, "an active wellbeing program" - from which I might consider a massage.

But if "holostic wellness" therapies ranging from yoga, meditation, tai chi and stretching to de-stress and unwind in pure natural surroundings amplified by nature are your thing then this looks a rather nice place to do them. And Anantara properties are always a delight.

The luxury five-star resort will also soon unveil its two- and four-bedroom Anantara Pool Villas, which are set within tropical gardens in the serene surroundings of the south-east coast of Mauritius.

That sounds much more like me; kicking back in luxury with a cold one.
