Former AFL players want to help hotel guests get into shape

A state-of-the-art movement and recovery facility has opened its doors at Pullman Melbourne on the Park, a hotel which was positively reviewed here last month.
.
Salt, which has been billed as one of the best training environments in Australia, features "cutting-edge technology, top-notch fitness amenities, and unparalleled expertise".

The gym comprises five distinct zones, each offering an opportunity to promote fitness, good health and growth.

Salt's functional fitness and cycling zones features ergonomically-designed cutting-edge equipment for strength, cardio and flexibility training.

Completing these zones is an exclusive recovery haven with a sauna and steam room, magnesium spa, ice baths and compression recovery area.

“We are excited to welcome Salt to Pullman Melbourne on the Park," says Pullman Melbourne on the Park general manager Stephan Leroy.

"This new state-of-the-art fitness and recovery centre will perfectly complement our recently renovated rooms and executive lounge, ensuring that our guests can enjoy first-class facilities during their stay with us.”

Salt's founders are former AFL players Dean Solomon and Matthew Kennedy, who also operate a facility at Kingscliff on the Gold Coast.

“We are on a mission to help transform every person that walks through our doors, whether they are elite athletes or just starting their fitness journey,” Solomon said.

In collaboration with Pullman Melbourne on the Park, Salt has introduced the 'Salt Movement & Recovery' package.

But it is not just hotel guests who will have access.

Salt memberships are also available. For further information see https://saltfit.com.au/east-melbourne/

“The experience is perfect for bridal parties, groups travelling for business or pleasure and even corporates looking to treat staff in the lead up to the festive season.”

$40 million Melbourne hotel renovation unveiled

It was once known as the Hilton on the Park - one of Melbourne's destination hotels - now Accor has officially launched the $40 million renovation of its flagship 419-room Pullman Melbourne on the Park, which is located opposite the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The upgrade has been designed by leading architects DKO and features views from every room, taking in Melbourne's famous gardens, the MCG, the Sports and Entertainment Precinct and the Melbourne CBD.

The renovation includes 19 floors of completely upgraded superior, premium and deluxe rooms and suites as well as a new executive lounge and William Clarke Sky Villa.

The rooms include specially designed windows with metal shrouds to act like frames transforming the views into works of art.

Each room has a window chaise from which to relax and enjoy the view.

Located on level 18 of the hotel, the new executive lounge features velvet sofas, marble tables, a large flat-screen TV and and a bar area overlooking the MCG and the city skyline towards Port Phillip Bay.

The renovated William Clarke Sky Villa is perched on the top two floors of the hotel with the best views of Melbourne.

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer Sarah Derry said the upgrade was completed during Melbourne's last lockdown.

“The Pullman Melbourne on the Park has always been a leading choice for visitors coming to see Melbourne's year-round major sporting and cultural events," Derry said. "This spectacular renovation will take their hotel experience to the next level.”

The re-opening comes just as Melbourne's hotels are experiencing a steady increase in occupancy and forward bookings for April and beyond.

“With domestic travel still favoured by Aussies, the popularity of staycations, the much anticipated AFL season kicking off and concerts back up and running, we're hoping that growth will continue," Derry said.

“We are also confident that with the easing of international restrictions, Melbourne will again take its place at the top of the wish list of international travellers, in the meantime we look forward to many Australians experiencing everything the Pullman Hotels are famous for around the globe in a world class city.”
