A one-day taste of the best of the Eden Valley

Looking for a special wine and food occasion? 

How about the Vino Camino 2026 - a collaboration between between two high-profile families in the Eden Valley on Sunday, May 17. 

Part of Tasting Australia, and billed as "a journey through the Barossa", the one-day gourmet experience offers the chance to spend time in the company of two of the Barossa’s founding families, Henschke and Angas, while exploring the picturesque Eden Valley.

Covering 5 kilometres, guests will be guided past historic vineyards and across ancient soils that produce some of Australia’s most renowned wines, including Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone.



Acclaimed local chefs Sam Smith and Sandor Palmai of Barossa standout Otherness will prepare seasonal dishes along the way, paired with Henschke and Hutton Vale Farm wines. 

The journey culminates in a generous Barossa-style lunch at the Angas family's historic Hutton Vale Farm.

Wine tastings and wine stories will be the order of the day as you visit landmarks including the  

Henschke cellar door in Keyneton and the Gnadenberg Church alongside the Hill of Grace vineyard.

The star tasting awaits at the peak of Mt Edelstone with a shiraz trio of Hill of Grace, Hutton Vale Farm and Mount Edelstone - along with 360-degree views of northern Eden Valley.

Lunch will be held in Hutton Vale Farm’s courtyard - with the family's famous lamb likely to feature. 

The event is for 18+ only and vegetarian, Vegan, coeliac and other dietary requirements can be catered for on request. The cost is $475 per person.

New releases mark a rejuvenation milestone for Henschke

Three new Adelaide Hills white wine releases from the Henschke family represent a resilient return. The wines are from vineyards that were affected by the 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfire that caused more than $200 million in damage.

The new releases are the 2025 Percival's Hill Grüner Veltliner, the 2025 Joseph Hill Gerwürzttaminer and 2025 Green's Hill Riesling, all from what is rated as an exceptional vintage.

"The first release of grüner veltliner, gewürztraminer and riesling from our Lenswood Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills since the Cudlee Creek bushfire in 2019 marks an exciting milestone for Henschke," says viticulturist Prue Henschke.

"Our team has devoted countless hours to regenerating the 45-hectare property, from training over 65,000 vines on newly installed trellises to planting hundreds of native trees and shrubs to create habitats for wildlife, improving the soil with compost, and ensuring our vineyard sits in a healthy balance with the natural landscape.

"It is a pleasure to share these wines and celebrate the rejuvenation of this unique, cool-climate site."

The fire, which broke out in "catastrophic" conditions in the Adelaide Hills on December 20, 2019, started after a powerline was dislodged by a falling tree. It destroyed more than 70 homes. 

Walk, wine and dine with two famous Barossa families

Want to get up close and personal with two of Australia's most famous farming families?

As a one-off on Sunday, May 5, as part of Tasting Australia, you can walk with two prominent Barossa families - Henschke and Angas - on a stroll through Hutton Vale Farm in the Barossa’s Eden Valley.

Local Barossa chef Sam Smith of Otherness and formerly Fino at Seppeltsfield, will provide ‎appetisers paired to Hutton Vale and Henschke wines at intervals along the 5km trail, and then serve a Barossa-style lunch at Hutton Vale Farm.

The day begins at Henschke’s historic cellar door in Keyneton.

Meet the family at the heart of one of Australti'as leading family wine companies and then travel to Gnadenberg Church, alongside the world-famous Hill of Grace vineyard.

The Angas family will then guide you over the hill to Hutton Vale Farm’s classified Barossa Old Vine riesling vineyard; where a tasting of the region’s best white wines awaits.

Next stop; shiraz vines planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas - which produce the fruit for Henschke's Mount Edelstone and the starting point beginning of the two families becoming entwined as neighbours, collaborators and friends.

The next tasting awaits at the peak of Mount Edelstone with a trio of shirazes; Hill of Grace, Hutton Vale Farm and Mount Edelstone - along with 360-degree views of northern Eden Valley.

The it is a wander back to Hutton Vale Farm’s courtyard for lunch with a special selection of family wines.

The walk is called the Vino Camino and there is also an accommodation deal on offer.

The event can cater to vegetarian, vegan and coeliac dietary requirements.
